Plymouth’s Sutton Harbour: 12 Days of Christmas

The Christmas countdown has begun in Plymouth’s Sutton Harbour. We’ve highlighted 12 venues around the Barbican and Sutton Harbour embodying the spirit of Christmas. Our 12 days of Christmas list will take us right up to the big day.  

There are plenty of cracking Christmas events, merry menus, and glorious gift ideas to discover. Whether you’re already in the Christmas spirit or you’re still thawing out, these offerings are sure to melt that frost.   

 

12 days to go at…the National Marine Aquarium  

Having already hosted a sustainable Christmas market earlier this month, there is still plenty in-store at Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium.  

If you’re looking for a fin-tastic venue for your Christmas party, the NMA hosts an entire evening. Dine in front of the Eddystone or Atlantic Reef exhibits for a three-course meal. Under the cover of vibrant schools of fish, sharks, and giant turtles, dine in amazement and wonder. The memorable evening will also have a resident DJ and a free bottle of house wine for every table.  

Still looking for the perfect gift for someone? The aquarium offers gift vouchers and even gift experiences for activities like snorkelling in their biggest tank. They’re also selling Christmas decorations like this cute, knitted shark complete with Santa hat 

 

 

11 days to go at… Honkytonk Wine Library  

It’s Christmas parties and platters all round at Honkytonk this festive season. A firm favourite all-year round, they really put out all the stops for this time of year. Whether that’s the Christmas Eve Bottomless Brunch with two courses and cocktails or a Christmas party with soul 

Have a loved one that can’t resist the ambience and fantastic wine selection at the Wine Library? They also offer gift vouchers for custom amounts to give the gift of quality time. Pop in before the big day to sample their menu which changes weekly and discover your new favourite tipple. 

 

 

10 days to go at…The Stable  

Who says pizza can’t be Christmassy? Head down to Plymouth’s branch of The Stable this Christmas to get your party on. The party menu is a twist on the traditional offering plenty of toppings and pleasant puddings. 

Looking for a more casual affair? The Christmas Buffet Menu has got you covered. With plenty of pizzas to pick and choose from, you get to sample all that’s on offer. What’s Christmas without good cheer? They also offer drinks packages to add to your meal from ciders and lagers to prosecco and House wine.  

Plus, you get to enjoy the picturesque views of Sutton Harbour and all of the sparkling Christmas lights on the Barbican.  

 

 

9 days to go at…The Harbour 

It wouldn’t be Plymouth without fish and chips. Christmas at The Harbour is always a real catch. With a delightful menu of seafood on offer, everyone will be spoilt for choice. From salivating starters to dreamy desserts, you’re also right in the heart of the Barbican. When dinner is done, you’re in the perfect place to head out to one of the many pubs to continue the evening. The night is young, and Sutton Harbour and The Barbican can keep you entertained!

 

 

8 days to go at…Rockfish 

There’s another succulent seafood feast on the Christmas menu at Rockfish.  With a glass of prosecco on arrival, you have a varied choice across three courses of mouth-watering dishes. 

Rockfish also has a whole host of Christmas gifts to inspire and delight. From tinned fish selection boxes for seafood lovers to helpful seafood cooking books for the aspiring chef. They also offer gift vouchers for either the restaurant or the online shop

5 days to go at…Daisy’s Tea Rooms  

It’s Daisy’s Team Rooms’ 5th Christmas this year, so why not celebrate with them? They have Christmas-flavoured teas, gingerbread men, and Christmas cake to offer.  

With its cosy and homely feel, the traditional Christmas decorations mean the experience feels mightily merry. 

Not to mention, they are also hosting two Christmas Dinner events, one of which is already sold out. Daisy’s will be providing a turkey Christmas dinner with all the trimmings plus afters. Expect Christmas carols and good cheer all round.  

 

 

4 days to go at…The Three Crowns 

For a fantastic pub atmosphere, make sure you head down to The Three Crowns on The Barbican. This family-friendly pub even allows you to bring the dog with you. It wouldn’t be Christmas without having everyone together.  

If you’re braving the cold, you can even sit outside and look out at the harbour views!  

 

 

3 days to go at…The Ship  

Fun, festive drinks at The Ship this Christmas. Does a Mrs Clause Mojito or a Santa Claus-mopolitan take your fancy?   

Have some festive pub grub or stop off after your Christmas-do to keep the party going. With live music acts performing throughout December, it’s sure to be an enjoyable night out. Sit on the terrace or by the harbourside and take in the views and the atmosphere.

2 days to go at…Alfresco 

If you’re out for a winter walk along The Barbican, be sure to stop off at the Alfresco cart. Grab a hot coffee and a sweet Italian treat to warm your bones. If you’re around until dusk, watch the Barbican’s Christmas lights come to life and illuminate the streets.  

If you’re feeling the occasion, they offer scrumptious syrups to add to your coffee. Will you go for butterscotch, gingerbread, maple spice, or toasted hazelnut?
