Buying Fish & Seafood

Freshly caught fish and shellfish is available to purchase – retail and wholesale – from merchant fishmongers based at Plymouth Fisheries.

Buying fish from a local fishmonger ensures you are selecting a locally caught, recent catch – and offers the opportunity to ask questions about how, when and where your seafood was caught. Our merchant fishmongers are also experts able to offer advice on preparing and cooking your fresh fish and sustainable fishing methods. Our merchant tenants include Moby NicksRG SeafoodsRex Down Fish Merchants, the Cracking Crab Company and Sole of Discretion.

Call 4 Fish

Call 4 Fish was set up locally in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to create a directory for fish suppliers which was easy to use, to enable people to access deliveries of fresh fish from their local fishmonger as well as to support UK fishermen.

The organisation has spread nationwide and proved hugely popular with new UK locations added all the time.

In Plymouth, a number of local suppliers are registered to provide fresh fish for collection and often also for delivery to your door. To find out more or to place an order, visit https://www.call4fish.com/plymoutharea

Fish landed and sold through Plymouth Fisheries is served by many local restaurants, including Rockfish, based in Sutton Harbour alongside the fisheries complex, and independent street food-style food emporium Supha’s, based just a short walk around the harbour at East Quay House.

Plymouth Fisheries is also home to a number of marine and fishing industry-related businesses and the complex offers merchant units for lease which feature production and workshop facilities as well as storage and commercial official space.
