One of the most exhilarating sailing events is coming to Plymouth’s Waterfront this summer. SailGP Season 2 will take place in Britain’s Ocean City on 17 and 18 July, following the season opener in Bermuda and the first ever Italy SailGP.

Sutton Harbour Group is proud to be supporting this exciting event, which will bring high speed, incredible drama and state-of-the-art tech to Plymouth with eight competitive teams made up of world-class athletes battling it out for the sport’s largest monetary prize – $1million.

The first event of SailGP Season 2 took place in Bermuda on 24 and 25 April resulting in a triumphant win for The Great Britain SailGP Team with Ben Ainslie at the helm, putting them at the top of the leader board, followed by Australia, France and Spain.

Following the second event in Taranto, Italy, on 5-6 June, SailGP is returning to UK shores for the third race of the season. There are eight events in total across the globe, with Denmark as the next venue after Plymouth.

Local fans will be able to watch the adrenalin-fuelled event in Plymouth, both on the water and ashore with locations across the waterfront providing a fantastic vantage point to watch the action, including the iconic Plymouth Hoe. Team GB will be looking to maintain its top spot on the leader board while competing on its home shores.
