Sutton Harbour Group is restructuring Sutton Harbour Marina to create more berths for larger vessels to meet changing demand from boat owners.
The 5 Gold Anchor-rated Sutton Harbour Marina is the marina of choice for boat owners wishing to keep their vessel in the historic heart of Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, with Sutton Harbour offering a unique location between the city and the sea.
The marina is reconfiguring its pontoons to create 15 additional larger size berths designed to accommodate vessels of up to 14 metres long, in order to meet the changing requirements of the market and respond to increasing requests for larger berths.
Some of the new 14m berths are still available for annual berthing contracts; anyone interested should contact the Marina team soon to avoid missing out due to growing demand boosted by the added interest in 2020 as a result of the year of Mayflower 400 commemorations taking place in Plymouth.
Sutton Harbour Marina enjoys a very strong retention rate from its loyal annual berth holders, who return year after year to benefit from berthing within a fully-serviced, luxury marina environment which continually earns the highest accreditation from industry experts.
Boat owners benefit from close proximity to Plymouth’s famous waterfront and historic Barbican area, with a wealth of harbourside restaurants, bars, visitor attractions, leisure amenities and city centre shopping just a short stroll away.
Sutton Harbour Marina is also a unique safe haven with exceptionally secure berthing thanks to the 24/7 manned double lock gates at Sutton Lock which protect from all weathers year-round and provide tidal stability.
Philip Beinhaker, Executive Chairman of Sutton Harbour Group, said: “Sutton Harbour has always been an extremely popular location for boat owners, with easy access to some of the best sailing waters in the country combined with the peace of mind that comes from knowing your vessel is safe in a calm, protected environment behind the lock gates. Our berth holders also appreciate being based in the centre of the city and close to the lively ambiance of the harbourside and its food and drink venues.
“The market is evolving and changing boating preferences have led to increasing requests for larger berths in the city, so we have reconfigured the marina pontoons and created additional 14m vessel berths to respond to market demand.
“We are also enhancing the environment and adding to the activities available for berth holders and visitors by introducing floating event pontoons this year, increasing the number of events able to be held in Sutton Harbour itself and supporting many of the special events planned to commemorate the Mayflower anniversary in Plymouth.
“These new event opportunities and improved ambiance are likely to see Sutton Harbour Marina at full occupancy, with a limited number of 14m berths available.”
In addition to the new 14m vessel berths, a number of pontoons accommodating vessels from 9m to 12m have been upgraded, and other pontoons have been reconfigured to optimise the space within Sutton Harbour Marina.
The Marina offers berths for 420 vessels of up to 40 metres in length, including custom-designed berths for multi-hulls such as catamaran or trimaran vessels, and berths for jet skis or personal watercraft.
