During England’s second national lockdown from 12am on Thursday 5th November until 2nd December, restaurants, cafes and attractions in and around Sutton Harbour will be closed to the public, however many are offering online orders, takeaways and deliveries.
We will be using our blog and social media channels to update you on the businesses still operating, with information about how you can support them, and how you can still enjoy Sutton Harbour safely during the lockdown period whilst adhering to social distancing rules.
You can still support the fantastic range of businesses that call Sutton Harbour their home by ordering from them online, engaging with them on social media – and visiting them again once they reopen.
Food & drink takeaways and deliveries
Many restaurants, cafes and eateries are offering takeaway and delivery services, as they did during the first lockdown in the spring.
HonkyTonk Wine Library has restarted its click & collect service and home deliveries. Collections are available from the wine lounge on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 12am-4pm. Delivery days are Fridays and Saturdays. Orders can be made from the HonkyTonk online shop which has a full list of the wine, cheese and hampers on offer.
During lockdown you can get a range of delicious food from The Harbour Seafood Restaurant delivered to your door via Deliveroo or you can also collect your meal from the restaurant. Visit the website for the full menu and contact details.
Boston Tea Party Plymouth is offering takeaway and click & collect from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday; browse the online menu and select the Plymouth café to make your order, then head down to Sutton Harbour at your allotted pick-up time. You can also get your breakfast, bunch or lunch from Boston Tea Party delivered via Deliveroo or Uber Eats. To look at the BTP menu and for more information, visit the Boston Tea Party website.
You can now enjoy a range of dishes from Supha’s Street Food Emporium in the comfort of your own home. Supha’s is open for takeaways and is offering a click & collect service via its website. Order your favourite dishes to pick up at your selected collection time, available from 12:30pm-8:30pm.
Many of the alfresco and takeaway eateries dotted around the harbourside will continue to offer takeaway drinks and food as usual. The Greek is also offering deliveries for those in PL1-PL5 postcode areas.
Merchant units located at Plymouth Fisheries are also offering deliveries and collections including RG Seafoods, Rex Down and Moby Nicks. Locals can get seafood deliveries from local suppliers through the Call4Fish initiative which has been set up to help support the local fishing industry. Visit the website to find out more.
As well as this, Shop4Plymouth has been set up by Plymouth City Centre Company and Plymouth City Council, with support from Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, in a bid to reconnect the public with its local retailers, as well as supporting local businesses across the city. Shops, cafes and restaurants in the Sutton Harbour and Barbican area are featured on the site with information on offerings and contact details.
Closure of non-essential retailers and attractions
Non-essential retailers in England will be closed during the second lockdown including The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, high street shops and Drake Circus Shopping Centre. However, many retailers will still be operating via online shopping.
Attractions including the National Marine Aquarium and Mayflower Museum are also closed. The aquarium’s dedicated Animal Husbandry team will continue to look after and care for the animals and updates will be posted on the NMA’s social channels. The aquarium is advising those who have booked tickets to rearrange their booking for a new date or request a refund. More information can be found on the NMA website.
Enjoying the harbour responsibly
We’re fortunate in Sutton Harbour and indeed in Plymouth to have some of the most stunning and historic places around us which have helped to sustain us all during the Coronavirus pandemic. During this second lockdown, we must continue to use these responsibly, safely and in line with the Government’s latest advice, while at the same time supporting our local businesses who are continuing to trade.
Members of the public can take a walk through history on the Harbour Heritage Trail, a one-mile circuit route around Sutton Harbour, learning more about Plymouth’s maritime history and visiting some of its most famous waterfront landmarks. You can find the Heritage Trail on the Plymouth Trails app, available to download on the App Store or Google Play.
We encourage anyone visiting the harbour to ensure they are following Government guidelines on social distancing.
Lockdown at Sutton Harbour Marina
Sutton Harbour Marina will stay open for business and access to vessels will remain throughout. The office will continue to be staffed between 8am-6pm, for assistance please telephone 01752 204702 or email marina@sutton-harbour.co.uk
The marina’s dedicated berthing team will continue to look after the safety and security of boats whilst people are at home and to attend to any requests from berth holders needing assistance with their vessel.
