Lockdown in Sutton Harbour: takeaways, online orders and virtual tours

We will be using our blog and social media channels to update you on the local businesses still operating, with information about how you can support them, and how you can still enjoy Sutton Harbour safely during the lockdown period whilst adhering to social distancing rules.

You can still support the fantastic range of businesses that call Sutton Harbour their home by ordering from them online, engaging with them on social media - and visiting them again once they reopen. 

You can also #ShareaSmile to help support local businesses. The Share a Smile campaign launched by our tenant PKF-Francis Clark aims to support tourism and leisure businesses and attractions across the South West by encouraging people to recommend their favourites on social media using #ShareaSmile.
 

Food & drink takeaways and deliveries

Many restaurants, cafes and eateries are offering takeaway and delivery services, as they did during the country’s previous lockdowns.

HonkyTonk Wine Library has restarted its click & collect service and home deliveries, running on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Orders can be made from the HonkyTonk online shop which has a full list of what’s on offer. The wine lounge will also be engaging with its loyal customers via social media as they offer their weekly wine recommendations. 

During lockdown you can get a range of delicious food from The Harbour Seafood Restaurant delivered to your door via Deliveroo or you can also collect your meal from the restaurant. Visit the website for the full menu and contact details. 

You can enjoy a range of dishes from Supha’s Street Food Emporium in the comfort of your own home. Visit their website to explore the extensive menu of delicious street food- style dishes with Asian influences and order your meals to collect. 
Click & collect available Wednesday – Friday, 5pm-8:30pm and Saturday & Sunday, 2pm-8:30pm.

Many of the alfresco and takeaway eateries dotted around the harbourside will continue to offer takeaway drinks and food as usual including Cap’n Jaspers, The Greek, Louise’s Coffee and Donuts and Alfresco. They provide the perfect pit-stop while on your daily exercise around the harbour with a great range of lunch foods, snacks and hot drinks.
 

Merchant units located at Plymouth Fisheries are also offering deliveries and collections. Locals can get seafood deliveries from local suppliers through the Call4Fish initiative which has been set up to help support the local fishing industry. Visit the website to find out more.

As well as this, Shop4Plymouth has been set up by Plymouth City Centre Company and Plymouth City Council, with support from Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, in a bid to reconnect the public with its local retailers, as well as supporting local businesses across the city. Shops, cafes and restaurants in the Sutton Harbour and Barbican area are featured on the site with information on offerings and contact details. 
 

Closure of non-essential retailers and attractions

Non-essential retailers in England will be closed during the third lockdown including The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, high street shops and Drake Circus Shopping Centre. However, many retailers will still be operating via online shopping.

Attractions including the National Marine Aquarium and Mayflower Museum are also closed. The aquarium’s dedicated Animal Husbandry team will continue to look after and care for the animals and updates will be posted on the NMA’s social channels. The aquarium will continue with Facebook Lives as well as offering virtual family tours and birthday parties so you can explore the NMA’s exciting exhibits and say hi to over 4,000 sea creates from the comfort of your own home. There will also be opportunities to ask the aquarium staff your burning questions about the Ocean and the creatures who live there. More information can be found on the NMA website. 
 

Enjoying the harbour responsibly 

We’re fortunate in Sutton Harbour and indeed in Plymouth to have some of the most stunning and historic places around us which have helped to sustain us all during the Coronavirus pandemic. During this lockdown, we must continue to use these responsibly, safely and in line with the Government’s latest advice, while at the same time supporting our local businesses who are continuing to trade.

You are allowed to enjoy a daily form of exercise, including visiting a public place to walk, cycle or run, as long as you stay within your local area.

Members of the public can take a walk through history on the Harbour Heritage Trail, a one-mile circuit route around Sutton Harbour, learning more about Plymouth’s maritime history and visiting some of its most famous waterfront landmarks. You can find the Heritage Trail on the Plymouth Trails app, available to download on the App Store or Google Play.

We encourage anyone visiting the harbour to ensure they are following Government guidelines on social distancing. 

Lockdown at Sutton Harbour Marina 

Sutton Harbour Marina remains open, and the Marina berthing teams are here should berth holders need help to keep their boats safe and secure.

Berthing assistants are available 7 days a week, and will be undertaking regular boat checks. They can also help with any specific concerns such as turning off an electrical appliance, removing any perishable goods left aboard or any other issues you may have.
